O Skip, tem um ajudante chamado Carlos. Ele nasceu nas Espanha, cresceu em Paris e ha 7 anos se mudou pros EUA - imagina o ingles desse ser. E ele tem um apartamento enorme em Paris.
A gente comecou comendo queijo de entrada. Tinha um muito bom, mas o queizzzzzo que esta mais acima da foto, era uma mistura de queijo e peido!!! NAO ESTOU BRINCANDO!!! Um cheiro insuportaaaaaavel que garrou no meu dedo! Mto fedorento geeeente! Se peido tem gosto...eh akele queijo!

Yesterday we went to a dinner party at Doug`s friend, Skip`s (who is a famous chef here in SB, friends with Oprah and close friends with Julia Child - impressive, I know). Every time I go to a dinner party here, I get super anxious about what is going to be served, nonetheless, I went to the damn dinner party.
Skip has an assistant, called Carlos. He was born in Spain, raised in Paris and 7 years ago he moved to the US. Can you imagine his English accent?? - and he has a huge studio in Paris.
We started the night having cheeses. Three of them were really good and they even had a cheese called Saint Andre -which was the joke of the night. The cheese on the upper part of the photo was a mixture of cheese and fart. I AM NOT KIDDING! It smelled like fart and if fart has a taste...that`s it!

Then they served this hollow orange filled with home made mayonnaise, beans, tomatoes, onions etc. It has a specific name that I`ll never remember. So far everything was good, but I new the main course was going to kill my buzz. And it did: Carlos brought lamb and fajule (fajule are green and big beans that actually taste very nicely). I dont eat pork, lamb or any strange meat. I could never pass the lamb, but Carlos put one of the filets on my plate and it was raw!! I almost had a stroke. Until John - one of Doug`s friend. We stayed in his house in Las Vegas- said "he doesnt eat it rear like we do. It has to be well done". MY HERO! Carlos goes back to the kitchen and finishes my lamb.... which was still raw, but I`d never tell him to go back to the kitchen and charbroil my lamb. So.. I ate as much as I could and obviously I finished the meal first. Skip, who was sat across from me, suggested I should try some of the pork he was eating. OH GOD!! Right beside me was Carlos, with the biggest BO on the planet!! :D

For desert, Skip made pecan cookies, chocolate and pecan quiche (devine) and home made pecan and coffee ice cream (it was amazing!!!! Doug made a comment about how much I love ice cream. Skip put other 3 scoops of the ice cream for me! LOVED IT!).

PS: Pra quem nao sabe, Julia Child foi uma chef americana que ficou famosa na Franca. Ela escreveu um livro e tinha um programa na tv. Ela eh riquiiiiiiiiissima e todo mundo a conhece nesse pais. Ano passado foi lancado um filme sobre a vida dela e Meryl Streep foi a Julia e ela ganhou o Golden Globe de melhor atriz.

PS: In case you dont know, Julia Child was a very very famous American chef who learned how to cook in Paris. She wrote many books, had her own tv show and still is super famous in the US. Last year a movie was made about her and Meryl Streep played Julia and got the Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy movie.
